Phase out of copper networks

Copper networks are currently being phased out in many parts of the country. Instead, broadband services and subscriptions are offered via fibre and mobile networks.

Nearly all households and businesses have a minimum of three different ways in which to connect to basic broadband telephony:

  • at least two different mobile telephone networks
  • a wireless 50 dual-band network
  • at least one satellite broadband service

If affected by the phase out of copper networks, you must check whether or not other service providers can offer you access to broadband and telephony. If applicable, ask your local Broadband Coordinator for advice and recommendations. (Link)

Please contact PTS should you find it impossible to get access to either broadband or telephony in the area where you live. It is our responsibility to ensure that homes and businesses without access to broadband or telephony are provided with a secure telecommunications network.
