Spectrum auctions enable efficient license allocation
When multiple parties want licenses to use radio transmitters in the same frequency range, we issue licenses using a selection method. For larger allocations, we use auctions as the method. In an auction, the license is awarded to the party willing to pay the most.
The licenses cover a specific frequency block within a defined geographical area, where the license holder is responsible for the radio network planning.
